Updating installed packages?

I am wornering if and how one updates the installed packages.  Is this done automatically or is there a process to be sure we are using the most up to date packages?

This is the list of the installed packages we are using:

Package Name               Publisher                     Version  Namespace          Install Date

 Managed - Installed Recurring Donations    Salesforce.com Foundation   1.6             npe03        2/20/2009 3:16 PM

 Managed - Installed Relationships            Salesforce.com Foundation     1.2            npe4          2/20/2009 3:16 PM

 Managed - Installed Affiliations               Salesforce.com Foundation     1.3             npe5         2/20/2009 3:16 PM

 Managed - Installed Contacts & Organizations salesforce.com Foundation 1.36          npe01       2/20/2009 3:16 PM

 Managed - Installed Households              Salesforce.com Foundation     1.14         npo02        2/20/2009 3:16 PM

   Volunteer Management 1.1 NOTA Build                        0.0                           3/22/2010 11:11 AM

Managed - Installed VerticalResponse for AppExchange VerticalResponse 1.1              vr           11/23/2009 9:14 AM

Please let me know if and how these packages are kept current and upgraded (if required).

Thank You

Re: Updating installed packages?

You can find the docs here:

Hope that's helpful,

Re: Updating installed packages?

Also, we covered upgrading extensively in my hour-long session at Dreamforce:

Re: Updating installed packages?

I can not seem to be able to upload a package to a sandbox.

When I go through the installation steps and I am asked to log in I try the URL for my sandbox and I can not access it.

How should the sandbox URL be inserted into the upgrade login to ensure I upgrade to the sandbox?  I have searched high and low for a good example but have not found one.

This is the log in that comes up during the upgrade process.  This URL points to the production- live environment:

https://login.salesforce.com/?startURL=/packaging/installPackage.apexp%3Fp0=04t80000000pUUoAAM

How should this URL be modified to point to my sandbox (test)?

The name of my sandbox is "test"

Thanks

Re: Updating installed packages?

Change the URL to look like this:

https://test.salesforce.com/?startURL=/packaging/installPackage.apexp%3Fp0=04t80000000pUUoAAM
