Here is the thing
We are a nonprofit that receives donations from various organizations and individuals. However, we also have programs and events where we charge people (basically products and services). By having the non-profit CRM it seems that I can’t have donations and products for one contact. I just learned that you will need the opportunities tab for the products to work
Bottom line… What I would like is to click on a contact and have both the donations and the product purchasing history displayed on the contact page layout. Currently I can only see donations. Some contacts are going to make donations and some will make donations and purchase products.
Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Thanks

In the Nonprofit Starter Pack, the Opportunities tab has been renamed to Donations. You can change this back, or to whatever name you want.
Go to Steup > Customize > Tab Names and Labels > Rename Tabs and Labels
Select Opportunities and enter the name you want.
To have different "kinds" of Opportunities, most groups use Record Types. You might want record types for Gift, Grant, and Purchase. Again, do whatever makes sense in your situation.
Check the Salesforce.com help for working with Record types--there is lots of good information there.
Hope that's helpful,
Steve
