Hello world, I am just getting started, have high hopes!

I am beginning to work on my project plan tonight for a CRM implementation at my foundation. We are an medium sized organization with around 160 FT staff, and there has been talk for years about the need for a CRM. But last month we presented the results of a CRM needs assessment to the executive team and now they are all behind an implementation, so definitely an exciting opportunity.

I was a SFDC user from 2004-2007 for a for profit company with more typical CRM use-cases and functional roles. So I am educating myself on which usecases will have the most impact on daily processes across the organization. If anything, I am trying my best to limit the scope upfront so as to avoid "boiling the ocean". So that means figuring out which departments will most benefit upfront and quickly, and prioritizing them.

Wish me luck!

Scott,

Best of luck!

Sounds like you're in for an exciting project.  There is a TON of know-how about how to make Salesforce.com work for nonprofits availble.  Are you using the Nonprofit Starter Pack?  Here are a few resources for you:

http://groups.google.com/group/npsf?pli=1 - Salesforce Nonprofit Practitioners

http://www.getsatisfaction.com/nimbleuser - My company's SF community (still growing but we have multiple consultants monitoring and answering questions)

Linkedin - There's a few dozen linkedin groups

I hope this is a start for you.  I'm here to help if you have any questions, as are many others in these communities!

Take care,

Garry
