I would like to use the command line to start the data loader and then do my operations. When I switch back and forth between the sandbox and production changing the "Server Host" in the Settings is frequently forgotten and become a puzzle, not to mention a PITA when I get invalid login messages.
I have looked in the pdf users guide and also found something here: https://na6.salesforce.com/help/doc/en/loader_para ms.htm but everything seems oriented to batch operations and I frankly don't understand what they are telling me.
Seems like I ought to be able to set up a shortcut like this:
"C:\Program Files\salesforce.com\Apex Data Loader 17.0\" "parms" or
"C:\Program Files\salesforce.com\Apex Data Loader 17.0\" "directory" or
something...
Has anyone done this? Can you give me an example?

I think you'll get more response posting on the developer boards over at http://developer.force.com.
Thanks,
Steve
