Customizing Colors on Standard Tabs

Does anyone know how to change the colors on standard tabs (i.e. Contacts, Reports, Campaigns, etc.)? -Seems like it should be simple to do, but I don't see where/how to do it.

I don't think they are customizable.  If they are bothering you, enable the new Spring '10 UI and all the colors go away

I believe there are some ideas out there advocating for more customization of the UI colors and theme.
